As a co-instructor for the 2026 Black Girls Code Detroit Summer Camp, I helped teach game design to elementary and middle school students ranging from ages 10-15 through hands-on, collaborative activities. I worked alongside fellow instructors at Code 313 in Detroit to guide campers as they explored the fundamentals of game development, from designing sprites to building their own platformer games. Beyond technical instruction, I mentored students, encouraged creative problem-solving, and supported an identity-affirming learning environment where every student could build confidence in their coding and design abilities. The campers created fantastic projects and I learned a lot about teaching children and teens how to code!
